Making Noise at the Children’s Festival: NMC On Tour to St Albert

The National Music Centre education team was honoured to be invited to the beautiful City of St Albert where we spent 5 days next to the tranquil Sturgeon River--- blasting its residents with screeches and bangs and pops and blasts at maximum volume! We certainly weren't the quietest guests, but every good party needs a little ruckus...  NMC educators ran between two tents. In one, classes of students from all over Northern Alberta made our famous Sound Sandwich--half kazoo, half harmonica, all fun-- and could be heard playing them all over the festival grounds. Our second tent, the Sound Garden, gave families the opportunity to experiement with instruments and discover teh diversity of sound that can be made with everyday objects. Thanks to the Edmonton International Children's Festival, their amazing volunteers and the city of St Albert for inviting us down to make some noise!
