The National Music Centre Collection

Home to an impressive collection of musical instruments and artist memorabilia—NMC is Canada’s premier destination for music lovers.

Spanning over 450 years of music technology and innovation, our one-of-a-kind collection is the foundation for many of the unique programs available at Studio Bell.

With a collection policy founded on accessibility, our team works to maintain 20% of the musical instruments in functioning condition. Falling somewhere between museum artifacts and living specimens—these objects effectively form our “living collection”.

NMC’s approach to preservation gives visitors and artists alike unparalleled access to our historical artifacts, inviting the exploration of sound and history, and incubating new music through our artist in residence program.

No other place tells the stories of music in Canada quite like this.
