The National Music Centre is proud to present powwow, round dance, drum and singing group, Northern Cree, with openers Sampler Café.
Since forming in 1982, Northern Cree—consisting of members from the Treaty 6 area—have released 37 albums via their Canyon Records label, and amassed many prestigious awards and honours, including eight Grammy nominations. They are the only traditional Canadian Aboriginal group to have ever been nominated for a Grammy.
Sampler Café is a diverse community of beatsmiths, sample sculptors, pad smashers and musical misfits that work together to promote unity through music and to share beat culture with the masses.
Special thanks to the Viewpoint Foundation for their support. Thanks also to media partners BeatRoute and YYScene.
