RECAP: Sled Island at NMC!

Before the Calgary Stampede rolled into Cowtown, the musical tornado known as Sled Island roared through downtown, and the National Music Centre was thrilled to be caught up in the storm. Sled happenings hosted by NMC included a three-day musical extravaganza, as well as special events such as Tim Hecker in Conversation, Weird Instruments Weird Sounds, and GreyScreen's LSDJ/Chiptune Workshop.
 

They're still talking about the series of all-ages shows that rocked the Performance Space during Sled week. From the rhymes and beats that dominated hip-hop night, to the cheese-filled Nardwuar and the Evaporators blow out, to the gloriously noise-filled garage and punk evening, it was a week that had youngsters of all ages rocking out.  

After Andrew W.K. joined the Evaporators by surprise for their set, CBC Music's Vish Khanna attempted to get an interview out of them but was slightly highjacked…check it out below!
